1. Easier to add additives:
Masterbatches allow for less complex additions by granule-to-granule mixing or addition in an extruder. The smallest amount of dust does not require special metering devices. It also reduces the accuracy of addition required to achieve the same addition rate in the final product.

2. Improve product consistency and process stability:
The use of additive masterbatches also improves product consistency and process stability through better dispersion.

3. Safer handling of hazardous materials:
Many additives are hazardous or degrading substances in their pure state. Masterbatches encapsulate additives in polymer resins or liquids. This encapsulation reduces or in many cases eliminates the hazards of the additives. It also eliminates numerous potential hazards of handling powders. These features result in fewer technical controls and fewer personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

4. Clean production:
In addition to being safer to handle, masterbatch additives are also cleaner. No color pigments or other powdered additives drift, spill or statically adhere to the surface. The result is cleaner production areas, less cross-contamination and potentially faster changeovers between different products.

5. Increased additive stability and shelf life:
Masterbatches help protect additives from humidity, temperature and UV rays during storage.
