Introduction to color masterbatch

The full name of color masterbatch is color masterbatch, also called color seed. It is a new type of colorant dedicated to polymer materials, also known as pigment preparation. Color masterbatch is mainly used on plastics. Color masterbatch is composed of pigment or dye, carrier and additive. It is an aggregate made by uniformly attaching super constant pigment to resin. It can be called pigment concentrate, so its coloring power is higher than the pigment itself. During processing, a small amount of color masterbatch is mixed with the non colored resin to obtain the colored resin or product with the designed pigment concentration.
Common coloring
Color material: It is used in the molding process after the natural color resin and colorant are mixed and granulated into colored plastics.
Dry powder coloring: powder colorant is directly used to make plastic products after being evenly mixed with natural resin.
Masterbatch coloring is the most commonly used plastic coloring method nowadays. The colorant dispersed in the carrier is simply mixed with the natural color master batch resin to make plastic products.
Basic components
1. Pigment or dye
Pigments are divided into organic pigments and inorganic pigments
Common organic pigments include phthalocyanine red, phthalocyanine blue, phthalocyanine green, light fast scarlet, macromolecular red, macromolecular yellow, Yonggu yellow, Yonggu purple, azo red, etc. Common inorganic pigments include cadmium red, cadmium yellow, titanium white, carbon black, iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow, etc
2. Carrier
It is the matrix of color masterbatch. The special color masterbatch generally selects the same resin as the product resin as the carrier, which has the best compatibility, but also needs to consider the mobility of the carrier.
3. Dispersant
It can promote uniform dispersion of pigment and no longer agglomerate. The melting point of dispersant should be lower than that of resin, and it has good compatibility with resin and good affinity with pigment. The most commonly used dispersants are polyethylene low molecular wax and stearate.
4. Additives
Such as flame retardant, brightening, anti-bacterial, anti-static, anti-oxidation and other varieties, unless required by customers, generally the color masterbatch does not contain the above additives.
